001 Transitive and intransitive verbs

For now, a brief overview:
Transitive verbs
In a particular sentence, if the action described by a verb transfers from the subject to a direct object, it is a transitive verb.
For example (with the direct object in red font):
Nositi Nosim knjigu. He is carrying a book.
Dati Dala je poklon bratu. She gave a gift to her brother. .
Čekati Čekaju oca. They are waiting for their father.

Intransitive verbs
These are verbs that describe an action that occurs independently of somebody or something else. There is no direct object.
For example:
Vježbati Vježbaju. They are exercising.
Šetati Šetamo pokraj rijeke. We are walking along the river.
Razmišljati Razmišljao sam kako bi bilo živjeti u Hrvatskoj. I was thinking about what it would be like to live in Croatia.

Of course, things aren’t always so simple. A verb may be intransitive in one context, and transitive in another. She is growing quickly. He grows tomatoes.
