Ne daj se!

When the going gets tough ....

​Ja bih umro, ali uvijek si kažem “Ne daj se!” 

I would die, but I always tell myself “Don’t give up!”

​Sometimes it feels almost too much? You are drowning, but having stubborn Croatian blood, you will not surrender! Like when you are trying to learn Croatian - such a slippery language.

​Puž je Hrvat? Hrvoje.

Mislim da je žena na vrhu. Onda Hrvoje je puž muž!

Warning: I don't know where I got this saying from .... My teacher Mateja (SpeakCro) tells me that this is not such a common expression and, although it is grammatically correct, is not really in the spirit of the Croatian language.

Have you ever noticed that whenever a teacher has difficulty explaining grammar or exceptions, or whatever, they fall back onto "It's not in the spirit of the language"?  [Sorry, Mateja!]
